Rev. Dr. Richard Emerson, M.Div., D.Min.

Dr. Richard Charles Emerson, a third-generation Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) minister, has been Senior Minister of First Christian Church, Longview since August 1, 2006.

Dr. Emerson served as Senior Minister of Collierville Christian Church, Collierville, Tennessee from 1999 to 2006. His first full-time pastorate was at the First Christian Church in Plainview, Texas from 1994 to 1999. As a seminary student, he served as Youth Minister at First Christian Church, Terrell, Texas (1988) and as Associate Minister at Northway Christian Church, Dallas, Texas from 1989 to 1994. He was ordained in 1992 at Northway.

He received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Arizona, a Master of Divinity from Texas Christian University, and an earned Doctor of Ministry from Brite Divinity School (TCU).

A long-time Rotarian, he is currently a member of the Longview-Greggton Rotary Club. He has also served on numerous ministry committees in the Northeast Area of Christian Churches.

Dr. Emerson is married to Kim, a retired teacher who currently teaches yoga classes, and has two daughters who are graduates from Texas Christian University. Emily plans to be a teacher and Hannah is studying Interior Design. In his free time, Dr. Emerson likes to read and relax (when not doing yard work) and travel with his family.

His favorite Scripture: Psalm 139:14 – “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
